Matchett died Saturday of an aortic aneurysm while visiting family in Montana. Matchett was a professor of pharmacy practice, pharmacology and toxicology for 22 years. He served as associate dean for 18 years before stepping down Aug. 1. Matchett received his doctorate in pharmacology and toxicology from the University in 1976. Mary Michaelis, professor of pharmacology and toxicology, knew Matchett well and said the department would miss the way he attended to individual students. students.
