The presentation will discuss the impact of globalization and women's roles on other global issues such as social justice and gender equality. Speakers from the Mexico Solidarity Network will be joined by representatives from K'final Antzetik, an independent organization that helps indigenous women in Mexico, and Jolom Mayaetik, a cooperative of indigenous weavers in Chiapas, Mexico. The Lawrence Humane Society will hold its ninth annual *Pawsible Dream Benefit Auction* tomorrow. One of the Jayhawks on Parade will be among the items auctioned. The event will feature a silent auction live auction, Taste of Lawrence buffet, cash bar and entertainment. The auction will include original art, jewelry, meals at local restaurants, gift certificates, books, tapes and pet items. Director Midge Grinstead said the people had expressed interest in the "Patchwork Hawk." She said she hoped the sculpture would bring $5,000 or more. Proceeds from the auction will go to the shelter's general budget, Grinstead said. She said the shelter usually received $60,000 in donations a year. This year, they are far short of that goal. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said yesterday it had confirmed cases in an 88-year-old Jackson County resident, a 74-year-old Clay County resident and a 63-year-old Wallace County resident. On Tuesday, KDHE reported cases involving 49-year-old and 75-year-old Sedgwick County residents and a 71-year-old McPherson County resident. Kansas has recorded one West Nile death this year.
