AUSTIN, Texas — Mack Brown announced yesterday that he will be leaving North Carolina to become football coach at Texas.

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska has changed the way it feels about the Big 12 championship.
Entering last year's game in St. Louis, the Cornhuskus had proclaimed the contest a nuisance — another potential pitfall as the Huskers strived for a third straight national title.
Coach Tom Osborne's concerns were realized when Texas won 37-27.
Ine Huskers insist things are different now. The trip to San Antonio for tomorrow's game between No. 2 Nebraska (11-0) and No. 14 Texas & A&M (9-2) is no longer a necessary evil. It'll part of the schedule.
In 1996, a 19-0 loss at Arizona State in the second game made for a rocky start. Nebraska played the rest of the way knowing another loss would mean no national title.
