Sounds of laughter filled the room as students watched the actors on the television say their impromptu. Photo by Sarah McKinney/KANSAN Students catch ER premiere; episode airs without a hitch Nation, campus tune in to watch television's No.1 rated drama; several places took hour seriously By Sarah McWilliams mcwilliams@kansan.com Kansas staff members Kansan staff writer Did the romance between Dr. Ross and Nurse Hathaway heat up? How did the emergency team at County General cope with the stream of bloody victims? And most importantly, did the actors mess up their lines? That's what KU students across campus tuned in to find out last night as "ER" aired its season premiere live. "The fight scene was cool," said Susan Gatton, Wichita senior. "It was fun to get together and watch it. Everyone's eyes were glued to the TV." Gatton was one of about 60 students from Sellards and Amini scholarship halls who gathered to watch the season premiere of America's most popular show in their TV room in Sellards Hall. As the excited viewers piled into the room, they were hushed by signs posted on the walls stating "Warning—No Talking." "We hardly ever get to watch anything live on TV anymore, so it was really exciting," Gatton said. She said nearly everyone in Sellards was a regular viewer of the Thursday night lineup, and the residents of Sellards decided to invite those of Amini Hall to come watch the show. Many of the residents were looking forward to picking up on old storylines. Denise Berkholz, Sheridan, Wyo., sophomore, said she was not sure what to expect from the live show, but she was a big fan. "I always had chemistry tests in class last semester," Berkholz said, "but I ran home in time to catch "ER." Amy Stultz, Prairie Village sophomore and member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, estimated more than half the 90 residents of the house would watch the emergency room drama as a group. Stultz counts herself as a big fan. "I've watched it ever since it started," she said. Miracle Video Adult Titles from DVD $12.98 Eup 1910 Haskell Salute 1 841-7504 REQUIRED PARADE MEETING Thurs.
