By Tom Winter Kansan staff writer The band is in town promoting its album "Too Far to Care." The Old 97's will be playing at 10 tonight at the popular Lawrence venue located at 737 New Hampshire St. The Dallas-based band is known for its punk-rock sound incorporated with its Southern/country twang. The band, which has been positively reviewed in the "Los Angeles Times" and the "Fort Worth Star-Telegram," has not yet made a name for itself in a national arena. "I think the biggest problem is that they are not being played because they haven't been heard enough," said Wendy Kayland, publicity coordinator for Electra Records. Jacki Becker, co-owner of Pipeline Productions, which owns the Bottleneck, said most people would not recognize the songs. "Honestly, I don't think anyone would know any of their songs unless they purchased their album," she said. "The songs are so good you don't need to know the titles." The doors will open for the show at 8 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 to those age 21 and older and for $6 to those under 21. "The music is really happy," Becker said. "It makes you want to dance."
