STARTING GUARD-Al Lopes, Providence, R.I., senior, is one of two returning guards for the Jayhawks this season. Lopes was second leading scorer for KU last season with a 11.7 game average. He also was second leading rebounder with 173. Lopes and guard Del Lewis, Topeka senior, are expected to start for KU in the home opener Dec. 1 against Arkansas.
