BO € JEN O'CONNOR 785.760.6387 SAYCHEEZPHOTOBOOTH.COM @SAYCHEEZTOWN SUPERBOWL Beyoncé showcases her fashion transformation In honor of Sunday's Super Bowl Sunday halftime performance, a walk down memory lane of Queen B's style evolution is only natural. It's hard to imagine a life pre-Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, as she has brightened our lives since Destiny's Child came out with its debut single 16 years ago. It's harder to believe that the icon has done any wrong over the years, but it wasn't exactly smooth fashion sailing to where everyone's favorite diva sits now. Beyoncé managed to steal our hearts from the very beginning, fashion flaws and all, and here she will stay. CALLAN REILLY creilly@kansan.com When Queen B first emerged as Destiny's Child frontwoman, she was all about sparkle and showing some serious skin. Her style was young, fun and feminine, which makes sense considering she was just 17 years old when the group first emerged. Since then, we've seen everything from jaw-dropping stage costumes, designer gowns and, of course, her Goldmember afro hairstyle. Whatever it was, Beyoncé was always making a statement with her one-of-a-kind style. The triple threat's most recent memorable moments cannot be forgotten. From her flawless gowns at both the 2011 and 2012 Met Galas to her unforgettable pregnancy style at the 2011 VMA awards, Beyoncé has always showed off her curves well. Her black and gold Emilio Pucci mermaid gown at the 2011 Met Gala, followed by her sheer black and purple feathered Givenchy dress the next year put everyone to shame. She pulled back an orange Lanvin flowy dress at the VMA awards in 2011 to showcase Blue Ivy for the first time. Beyonce's love for unique clothing didn't come randomly. Her mother, Tina Knowles, was the brain behind the beauty's signature looks. The mother-daughter duo created their own fashion line House of Dereon in 2006, which was named after Tina's seamstress mother. Tina was both Destiny's Child's and Beyonce's stylist for many years, giving the band their unique style. Beyoncé performs during the halftime show of the NFL Super Bowl XLVII football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens Sunday in New Orleans. ASSOCIATED PRESS If there was ever a constant in the star's style evolution, it's always her confidence. Even with many hits and misses along the way, Beyoncé could never be anything but loved. Queen B's half-time performance was nothing short of monumental. Though I was expecting more color, her leather body suit and lace skirt were hotter than all the players combined. A Destiny's Child reunion is never a bad idea, either. Did anyone actually keep watching the game after she left the stage? I doubt it. — Edited by Laken Rapier
