PAGE GB THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2012 THE UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN KANSAS 6-1,(0-O BIG 12) COLORADO 6-1,(0-O PAC 12)* *as of 9 p.m. 12/5/12 FORWARDS Young Kevin Young. Senior Forward Kevin Young, Senior Forward Young will have to make his felt on the boards being matched up against Andre Roberon. If he can't keep Roberson off the offensive glass, he could find him on the bench watching another jaywah try to fend off the Colorado forward who is averaging 11.1 rebounds per game. Roberson Andre Roberson, Junior Forward CENTER As a sophomore, André Roberson broke the 58-year-old Colorado single season rebounding record with 401 rebounds. At 6-foot-7 Roberson is an athletic forward with the ability to block shots, he ranks seventh on the Buffs all time list, and a penchant for chalking up double-doubles. Roberson has the ability to create problems in the post. Withey FORWARD Withey only has one chance to defend his player of the week award, but he should embrace the opportunity to bang down low against two players that stand above 6-foot-10, Xavier Johnson and Shane Harris-Tunks. And Withey should be able to take advantage of them on the offensive side of the floor, and add to his second on the team 14.6 points per game. GUARDS Jeff Withey, Senior Center Scott Josh Scott, Freshman Forward Josh Scott, Freshman Forward The Freshman from Monument, Colo. scored a state-leading 799 points as a senior last year. This season Scott is averaging 13.1 points and six rebounds per game. At 6-foot-10, Scott is the tallest player in the lineup. The Jayhawks smaller forwards may struggle with his size if he can find the mismatches. McLemore Ben McLemore, Freshman Guard Currently, McLemore is throwing down at least one, eye-popping, ceiling-raising dunk per game for the Jayhawks. If he throws down another one similar to his steal and slam last week, he could blow the roof off Allen Fieldhouse. Askia Booker, Sophomore Guard Booker Askia Booker, Sophmore Guard Booker is averaging 15.3 points per game and is the Buffs main outside threat. Booker didn't play well last week against Wyoming, however, scoring only six points on 2 of 5 three-point shooting in 31 minutes against the Cowboys. If Booker can create open looks beyond the arc, he will be successful against a Kansas team that struggles to defend the perimeter. GUARDS GUARDS Johnson Elijah Johnson Senior Guard Elijah Johnson Senior Guard Johnson still isn't running the Jayhawk offense the same way that Kansas coach Bill Self wants him to, but the senior is consistently finding open teammates, whether it is Ben McLemore for the alley-op or Reeford on the wing, he has dished out nine assists in two of his past three games. Dinwiddie Spencer Dinwiddie, Sophomore Guard Dinwiddie is the Buffs leading scorer with 16.1 points per game. Last week against Wyoming, the sophomore led the team with 24 points, four assists and only one turnover in a matchup were turnovers ultimately cost the Buffs. If Dinwiddie gains momentum another 20-plus point performance isn't out of the question. Releford Travis Releford, Senior Guard Releford extended his run of double-digit point totals to four games against Oregon State. Colorado will present a tougher task for the Jayhawks, but they have found success recently by turning to Releford for a scoring punch when their offense slows. Chen Sabatino Chen, Senior Guard CHEN IS THE weak spot offensively in the Colorado starting five. But what he lacks in offensive production, he makes up in veteran leadership and solid defensive play. Look for Chen to facilitate offense and create transition baskets on the other end.
