Its menu consists of several unique burgers and extends to include hotdogs and even vegetarian options. Despite all the yummy choices available, the burger still holds the fame for this appropriately named restaurant. Manager Chris Hoffman said the restaurant sells about 200 to 400 burgers a day. Hoffman recommends checking the Specials board. "Nearly all of my favorites have come from these daily specials rather than the everyday menu," he said. "Our kitchen manager Sarah Hess does a wonderful job coming up with these amazing creations." He said his favorite was the "Black & Blue" burger. The Burger Stand also has a new weekly event: Video Gamer Night. Tuesdays at 8 p.m., it opens the Basement Beer Hall Bar for free video gaming with old consoles like Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. Its menu is small, but its options are infinite. Each item on the menu allows for customization, from tortilla to rice to beans. Even with all of the choices, though, many students have their favorite go-to order. "Chipotle is great. The chicken burrito is always the way to go," said Ian Sheppard, a sophomore from Great Bend. Taco Bell may serve half its menu for a few bucks, but Chipotle hands out the best ingredients for the same low prices. According to the company's website, Chipotle gets its ingredients from respectable family farms and uses meat and dairy products from animals that haven't been raised with antibiotics or added hormones. The Mount Oread Scholars program will end in May after 16 years at the University because of the Honors Program expansion. The Mount Oread program provides resources like living learning communities, seminars and advising for incoming freshmen with high abilities. Brandon Woodard, a Topeka senior studying political science, was announced as the presidential candidate by KUnited yesterday.
