OUT OF THIS MASS of color of 75 bands will emerge the formation, BAND-DAY KU-1965. The bands will play two hymns, the Battle Hymn of the Republic and the Navy Hymn,the latter in honor of the late Commander Charles Brendler, leader of the United States Navy Band, who died July 29 of this year. During their one day stay at KU, the high school students and their 800 chaperons will have seen several blocks of downtown Lawrence, about a mile strip of the campus and the faces of thousands of people. For this, approximately $40,000 is being paid by the 75 schools.
