Prof. Selected To Be Lecturer
Charles F. Weinaug, professor of petroleum engineering, has been selected to serve as a Distinguished Lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers in 1965 and 1966. Prof. Weinaug is one of six men in the United States who have been selected for this honor.
Prof. Weinaug is only the second educator who has been chosen to serve as a lecturer since the program was established in 1961. As distinguished lecturer, Prof. Weinaug will deliver about ten lectures for various
professional groups of petroleum engineers throughout the United States.
The Society of Petroleum Engineers, a division of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, began the Distinguished Lecturer program in 1961 as a means of assisting local groups of the Society in obtaining speakers with outstanding records of professional achievement.
Dr. Weinaug came to KU in 1948 after receiving the doctorate degree
from the University of Michigan. He has served as a consultant to a number of major oil companies as well as the Corporation Commission of the State of Kansas, and he has received professional recognition from all branches of this profession. He is currently director of petroleum engineering curriculum at KU.
Prof. Weinaug is writing a series of abstracts for the Society's journal in connection with the Distinguished Lecture Series. He plans to begin work on the abstracts after Feb. 15.
