Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1965 Starlight Audition Will be Held Preliminary singing auditions for the 1965 Starlight Theater season in Kansas City will take place in Swarthout Recital Hall in Murphy Hall Thursday. Beginning at 3:30 p.m., applicants will sing numbers of their own selection from shows of the type presented at Starlight Theater. Each applicant must furnish his own accompanist. Although formal training is not required, the competition and professional demands made by a Starlight Theater production require only advanced ability or unusual talent be employed. THE OFFICIALS of the theater are looking for young singers in the mid-central area with singing talent of professional caliber who need to be made aware of their potential. In the theater's 1964 season over one-third of the singing ensemble was made up of people first attending the preliminary auditions in the area. All those interested in trying out may do so without previous appointment. Kansas Governor Goes to Washington TOPEKA —(UPI)— Gov. and Mrs. William H. Avery will leave for Washington, D.C. tonight to attend the presidential inauguration ceremonies. Avery said he expects to return Friday morning to "continue work on the budget message which is well underway now." The Averys will leave by private plane shortly after the governor addresses the Kansas Association of School Boards here tonight. Fire Kills Family MORRISEVILLE, Vt. — (UPI)— A family of six, including four small children, was killed early today when a wind-whipped fire swept their three room wooden shack as they slept. State police identified the dead as Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Corey and their four children. Names of the children were not available immediately. Cause of the blaze was under investigation.
