U.S. Supreme Court Cites Work From KU Law Review in Opinion
An article in the Kansas Law Review, a student publication of the KU Law School, was cited by the U.S. Supreme Court to add authority to one of its opinions delivered Nov. 23, 1964.
A citation in a court opinion is to lend authority by referring to a previous case, the law itself, or a learned article, John Johntz, editor of the Law Review, said.
"Although the Law Review has been cited may times by the Kansas Supreme Court," Johntz, Wichita third-year law student, said, "as far as we know it's the first time the Review has been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court."
