"Facts, Ideas and U.S. Climate Change Policy: A Conference on Climate Change" will feature a panel of experts from a variety of fields. They will make presentations and debate research as they work to make new recommendations for policymakers. Dole wanted to award a politician and an American hero. Civil rights activist and U.S. Congressman John Lewis will visit the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics on Sunday to receive the Dole Leadership Prize. As one of the youngest leaders in the civil rights movement, Lewis participated in sit-ins, Freedom Rides and marches. In March 1965, Lewis was brutally attacked by a state trooper in the Selma to Montgomery march on a day later known as "Bloody Sunday." Lewis still works for human rights and civil liberties in the U.S. House of Representatives. Jonathan Earle, Dole Institute interim director, said if students only went to one event at the institute this year, it should be this event.
