UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN Monday, October 17, 1994 5A Spiritual fire Julianne Peter / KANSAN Henrietta Mann, Haskell Indian Nations University visiting professor from the University of Montana, lights a bundle of sweetgrass, a purifying medicine, during a lecture on Native-American spirituality. Mann and other members of Haskell's faculty held a workshop Saturday to educate KU students and Lawrence residents about the wetlands south of Haskell's campus. Haskell students and faculty have said the proposed South Lawrence Trafficway would seriously damage the wetlands, and the workshop was held to show the wetlands' importance. About 70 people attended.
