The percentage of minorities other than blacks remained unchanged at 2 percent, and the percentage of those listed as "unknown" rose to 3.2 percent last year from 2.4 percent in 1992-93. In the past four years, 5,889 new athletics administrator positions became available. Of those, 597 or 10.1 percent, were filled by blacks. The study defined administrators as those in a variety of positions serving from tinklet manager to athlete director positions ranging from ticket manager to athletic director. Blacks accounted for 3.6 percent of the 897 athletic directors in the NCAA in 1993-94.
