the numbers Lawrence Benchmark Survey crime rates in 2009 and 2010
Crime rates in Lawrence have decreased since 2009, but are still above the national average per 1,000 citizens, according to the Benchmark Survey. The survey measures crime rates in various cities across the country as a way for police departments to improve their communities. Lawrence police have asked for more funding, but The Kansan has found crime rates are down or relatively low when compared to that of other cities. More information on this at Kansan.com/news.
