editors' note of Jayplay this last semester. Dani: Someone once said: "To love what you do and feel that it matters—how could anything be more fun?" That's how I feel about being the editor I never dreamed that I would get to do what I love for a living—and by do what I love, I mean bitch at writers, Google random sex facts and talk about said random sex facts for hours with my lovely associate editor, Megan. It really has been one hell of a trip. Megan: I remember reading Jayplay for the first time in fall 2004. I was an aimless freshman who knew only that she loved words, grammar and writing, but had no idea how to parlay those interests into a career. I had an 8 a.m. biology lab in Haworth on Thursdays, and I opened up The Kansan before my first lab to find a little treasure known as Joyplay. I never would've dreamed then that I'd have the chance to both write and edit for Joyplay, that my future career would be in magazines, or that I'd meet someone as obsessed with Jesse Lacey, the color green or Empire Records as I am. And I'm referring to you with that last part, Dani. Dani: You are, indeed, a sweetheart. Make sure to read Elise's story on page 18 about how she turned her passion for music into a profession. I'm going to miss Joylaop, but I can't imagine anyone better to pass the torch on to than Megan. Good luck!
