Huntingtis was chosen out of about 25 applicants. ENIQY MOVIES ON THE BIG SCREEN WITH S.U.A. Demo said that Huntsinger would specialize in alcohol- and drug-prevention programs. Huntingsi said she enjoyed working in a field that was constantly updated. "I am very interested in the preventive aspect of health education," she said. Huntsinger, who grew up in Lawrence, graduated from Lawrence High School in 1981 and received a Bachelor's degree in health education from the University of Kansas in 1985. Julie Huntsinger Shortly after graduation, she took a position with the CDC as a health educator in Oakland, Calif. A year later, she was transferred to Philadelphia for two years before returning to Lawrence. Her primary role with the CDC was to provide information about drugs, alcohol and sexually transmitted diseases to clients and their partners. She said that the job was demanding but that she valued the experience. She will that out of view for some. Jim Strobi, director of student health services, said the university hired wasired because she'd held a dual background. "We have received some good reviews about her work already," Strobel said. Russian official makes plea for economic aid The Associated Press PARSONS — A Russian official believes that the citizens of Kansas and the people of Russia have much in common. Kolosovsky toured Kansas with U.S. Sen, Bob Dole on Monday. "They want their children happy and safe," said Andrei Kolosovsky, deputy foreign minister of the Russian Republic. "They want peace. They want their own businesses and to be free." The Russian official also issued a plea for U.S. citizens to invest in the Soviet economy while his country is pursuing reforms. Emergency help for the coming winter is needed, but so is long-term assistance, he said. "Certainly we need some emergency help, especially for this winter," Koslovsky said. "But I would say that what we need most is real cooperation reforming our economy." Dole said he thought relations between the Soviet Union and the United States were continuing to warm up. But he said more defense cuts must be pursued with caution. Dole said the republics of the Soviet Union would represent opportunities for some American businesses. He said it would be a mistake for the United States to sit on the sidelines while other nations reap the rewards. While the Soviet people need economic help, what they desire is a normal business relationship with U.S. companies.
