The commercial, which is being filmed by Mike Dinitto and Brad Beebler, two local free-lance producers, should be compiling material for the publication Jennifer Zucko, public-relations coordinator for KU Panhellenic Association. "We want to let women know that the greek system is out there and that it is" "a good thing." During August, 796 women went through rush, down from about 950 A shot of the outside of every sorority house at the University of Kansas will be part of the video, as well as activities including a KU football game, the Red Cross blood drive and intramural sports, she said. "We want to stress unity among houses and Panhellenic as a system," Henderson said. The commercial will be shown by television stations in Topeka, Wichita and the Kansas City area, she said. If there is enough financing, the committee also will try to buy local time on MTV. Henderson said the commercial would be shown to freshmen and new students at orientation next summer. KU ambassadors, students who promote the University at high schools, also will show the commercials. "We want the commercial to show how being in a sorority can help you become more involved in campus academically." Henderson said. "I think it will reach a broader range of girls who don't know that much about the Greek system," Wilkinson said. Wendy Wilkinson, president of Chi Omega sorority, said she thought the commercial would break traditional views about sororities and let more women know about the opportunities in the Greek system. The ban was announced in 1990, and a seven-year plan to phase in the ban began in August of that year. Several companies involved in the asbestos business and governments of several Canadian provinces, including Quebec, where the minerals used to make asbestos are mined, challenged the ban. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sent the issue back to the EPA for further action. be carcinogenic and is believed to cause lung ailments when its fibers are inhaled. Asbestos, once used widely in insulation, boilers, automobile brake lining and other products, is suspected to Opponents of the ban said the ban would save few lives and hurt the economies of many nations. "The court has found that the EPA failed to find substantial evidence that today's asbestos products pose unreasonable risk," industry attorney Edward Warren said in a statement.
