Morris said that while Rinke waited outside, he went inside and grabbed a golf club from the kitchen in case someone returned while he was there, Crossfield testified. Continued from Page 1 Crossfield testified that Morris said that when he found Davis asleep in an upstairs bedroom, he struck Davis with the golf club. As Davis arose from the bed, Morris said angry thoughts about Daven was through his head and he hit him three or four more times. Morris told Crossfield that he was angry with Davis because Morris thought that he might have been sexually involved with Rinke and because he thought Davis could have sold bad drugs in July to Morris' friend, Randy Smith. Smith died of a cocaine overdose in July. Rumsev said. Crossfield said that after Morris discarded all the items except the scale. He and Rinke rode to Topeka with a friend and then took a bus to Phoenix. After Morris said he bludgeoned Davis, his drive he stole a scale used to measure cocaine, some money and meth, then loaded the cocaine in them. Cressfield testified. Douglas County District Attorney Jerry Wells yesterday granted Joseph Whitten, one of Davis' roommates, immunity from prosecution on drug charges in exchange for Whitten's testimony in the hearing about how Whiten sold drugs. Whitten said he found Davis about 1 p.m. Aug. 8 with his head covered with dried blood and wheezing. He said he could not divulge what he and Turner had talked about because it might be important testimony when the case went to jury trial. Whiten testified that he also had sold drugs from 619 Illinois St. Ferne Forman Fisher Lecture In Psychology Police at this time are not investigating the reported drug deal involving Turner the day of the beating, Harmon said. He said he talked with Turner shortly after the beating and also at his KU office after Morris' interview in Phoenix. Harmon talked to Davis' friends, who said that Turner was with Davis the night before the bludgeoning, Harmon said.
