Back in the day: As a freshman, Liu's interest in art led her to volunteer at the information desk at the Spencer Museum of Art. She eventually became a paid employee, earning her money as a membership assistant. She spent her weekends at the fine arts building working on studio projects. Liu was also involved with the Hispanic American Leadership Organization throughout her undergraduate career and became the group's vice president during her senior year. She also spent a semester studying in Golfito, Costa Rica. The grad life: After Liu graduated, she took a job at Art Frames, 912 Illinois St. She didn't stay gone for long, however, and she returned to the University for graduate school less than a year later. While working toward her master's in museum studies, she intered at the Spencer Museum of Art and later began working there full-time. Today: As collection manager at the Spencer Museum of Art, Liu says there's no such thing as a normal day. She says she enjoys the museum because it attracts interesting people — especially her co-workers — who care about the arts. She says:"Don't just be involved with what you're studying but also be involved with extracurriculars and work.I think it's really important to work when you're in school because it broadens your horizons."
