John Oliver from Ruskin High School (Mo.) and Alex Turner, Shawnee-Mission North are the latest signees announced by coach Bob Timmons. Oliver won the Missouri state championship and had a seasonal best of 14^2". He plans to major in either mathematics or science. Turner had the highest mark in the state of Kansas during the past season with a best of 14" - 234". The program this year will be more elaborate and will feature 250 aerial shells. In addition to the aerial shells, there will be numerous ground displays, one of which will star Batman. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend this year's program. The gates will open at 6:30 p.m., with a band concert given by the local music union. The winners of the Soap Box Derby and Miss Lawrence also will be presented. The Caped Crusader feature was specially made for the Jay- cees program. Three movies listed Three movies will be shown at 8 p.m. today east of Robinson Gymnasium. They are "Come to Texas." "Bay of Gold," and "Bavaria. Colorful Mosaic."
