Beginning and end of a memorable night
The two scenes at the top of this page represent the beginning and end of KU's championship-clinching game against Colorado. At the left, high scorers Walt Wesley and Chuck Gardner jump at the opening tipoff. At right, a happy Wesley helps Sam Miranda, assistant coach, take an impromptu shower. So did Ted Owens, head coach (below), who figured the bath a small sacrifice to make for a Big Eight trophy.
