In the fall of 1968, a 500-seat auditorium in the planned Kansas Union expansion will be the showplace of all SUA films. Construction on the complex will begin this fall, according to Union director Frank Burge. By BONNIE SOLOW "WE HOPE to receive federal loans to finance the project," Burge said, "but if we can not sell our construction bonds federally, we will go to the commercial market." The Union expansion will include meeting rooms, an enlarged bookstore, and refreshment centers as well as the auditorium with permanent projection facilities. Since the razing of Old Fraser Hall in 1965, Dyche Hall Auditorium, which seats 208, has been the home of the SUA film series. Because of Dyche's limited capacity, movie-bound students are often turned away at the door or are granted admittance only to stand throughout the film while others, seated, crane their necks to see the screen. Though there are 10 other auditoriums on the Hill, no possibilities exist for moving the film series permanently before the completion of the Union expansion. ASIDE FROM DYCHE, only Hoch and a small projection room in the Bailey Hall basement have built-in film facilities. Hoch Auditorium with its 4,000 seats would swallow up the 500 SUA film viewers, while the Bailey projection room would not seat half of them. Though the University Theatre can also handle projection equipment, it is always heavily booked. DUTCH CARS AMSTERDAM — (UPI) — Holland, the land of bicycles, also has its fair share of cars. Latest figures show there are more than 1.5 million private autos in the country, 18 per cent more than a year ago. That works out to an average of one car for each 8,000.
