Four Couples Announce Wedding Plans
Coutts-Shaffer
Gen, and Mrs. J. W. Coutts of Chevy Chase, Md., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathy, to Jon Shaffer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Shaffer of Iola.
Miss Coutts is a member of Lewis Hall. Shaffer is a senior in political science and a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and Scabbard and Blade.
A January wedding is planned.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Payne of Prairie Village announce the engagement of their daughter, Penne, to Gary L. Weerts, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Weerts of Farmington, Ill.

Miss Payne is a sophomore in business education. Weerts is attending KU under the Navy Enlisted Scientific Education program. He will go to Officer Candidate School after graduation.
