Bids to Be Asked for Soon—A Three-Story Building With Basement.
At a meeting of the Board of Regents Tuesday, plans for the erection of the east wing of the new half million dollar Administration building, for which an appropriation has been granted by the legislature, were considered and since that time the plans have been practically approved as submitted by State Architect Chandler. There still remain a few changes to be made in the plans and specifications but within a month or less time bids will be asked and even before that time the foundation plans will have been laid out by the senior engineers of the University.
The Administration building when finished will be a gigantic structure 408 feet long and from 70 to 100 feet wide. The part which will be built this year, however, will be less than one-third of the entire building. It will be known as the east wing and will be used for class room purposes only. It will be located just west of the Chemistry building and when completed the wing alone will cost $125,000.
The building will be built of native stone and will be three stories high with a basement. The wing will be 70 by 140 feet in dimensions.
