Nonetheless, some viewers attending a special showing of "Blue Planet" said the movie spoke clearly to them. Bruno Bossio, producer of the award-winning film, was present at yesterday's showing at Liberty Hall, 642 Massachusetts St. He preceded Toni McCormack with a disciple of any intent by the film to make a predetermined point. "The film, there is no message," Bossis said. "If there is one, don't run away - we can change that." But director of the film, Franco Piavoli, does establish a theme. A foreword, written in Italian, states, "...so one thing will never cease to arise from another, and no man possesses life in freehold as ten- That introduction, from the Roman poet Lucretius, sets the stage. Ice is the first thing the viewer sees, though not as cubes or icicles, but extremely close-up, as seen through a close-focusing lens. The ice is then seen growing into a bubbling gurgling stream. The entire film spans four seasons, condensed into the time frame of a day-and-a-half. The 90-minute film begins with a morning scene of melting ice, moves through that day, evening, night and next day's dawn, simultaneously with spring, summer, autumn and the next winter. Confused? Clarity comes with viewing. The 1982 Italian film was recommended by the Italian Film Critics Association for best film of the year. The 1982 United Nations award winner. Brian Swiegmann, Salina junior, said he found the movie's relaxed pace a refreshing change from his hectic schedule. "I went in there going 60 miles on hour, and the movie was going like life, a nice easy 20." Schwegmann said. Franco Plavoli and wife Neria Poll spent three years creating the film "Blue Planet." The "Blue Planet" will have a special showing April 30 at Liberty Hall, beginning with a live jazz performance by Ben Graham and the band. For more information, open discussion with Bossio. Tickets are $6. Two shows are offered; 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., on May 1, 3 and 4. In addition to the two regular showings, matteines will be presented at 5:30 p.m. May 5 and 6. Tickets are $4 at the evening showings, and $2.50 for matteines. SUMMER WORK §9.25/Starting Mid America Division of Nat'l Corp. interviewing for entry level positions.
