Last night, the School of Social Welfare finished the campaign with $1.707 in pledges. Kim Forehand, assistant director of the Greater University Fund, attributed this year's record-breaking total to several factors. "We've had some extra phone calls and more volunteers this year." Forehand said "We've also had a couple of extra nights to work with." Last year, $128,821 was raised. Since the Feb. 2 start of the cam- Since the Feb. 2 start of the campaign, 295 alumni, student and faculty volunteers solicited pledges on 25 weeknights. Each of the University's 10 schools provided faculty and student volunteers to help in the campaign. The institution offers a culinary office in Youngberg Hall. Forehand said that 10 to 12 callers worked on any given night during the campaign. "Small donations establish relationship with alumni that are long-standing," said Sharon Taylor, development officer at the Endowment Association. "We have tremendously loyal alumni." All proceeds from this year's Hawkline campaign will be included as part of Campaign Kansas, the $150-million tundra-driving fund. SECURE YOUR SUMMER EMPLOYMENT NOW!
