Credit lost from poor grades
Below average transfer grades no longer count

Any student planning to transfer credit into the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences from a different university college now has a deadline to meet
Beginning Jan. 1, students will not be able to transfer grades below a C into the college. The change was announced last week. College Assembly meeting last week.
Pam Houston, assistant to the dean of liberal arts and sciences, said the change would make the college more
compatible with other schools.
"I think that it is a fairly common procedure," she said.
James Carothels, associate dean of liberal arts and sciences, said the Committee on Undergraduate Studies and Advising proposed the change to make the college more like other KU schools.
"I think that the committee discovered that our policy was not consistent." he said.
If the class is being transferred to fulfill a requirement, such as a math credit, Houston said, then it would be possible to fulfill a credit or as fulfilling a requirement

Houston said there was no way to tell how many students the change would affect.
Carothers said there was no set number of students that would be affected.
"I don't really know," she said. "There has been no survey of students themselves. We can trust them." Da. We don't know of any trends in the number, either."
Brenda Eisele, Fredonia junior and a member the assembly, said she approved of the change.
"It will help our students," she said. "It puts KU on the same level as other schools."
