Pepsi supplied money to purchase the food after voters across the nation picked the local animal food bank to receive a $5,000 grant in October. The animal food pantry is a good example of the kinds of ideas Pepsi hopes to nurture, Pepsi spokeswoman Allison Arieff said in an e-mail response to questions about the project. Pepsi is also hoping to foster hope in troubled times and provide money to grow ideas into actions, she added. The program is designed to support individuals and organizations across six categories -- health, arts and culture, food and shelter, the planet, neighborhood and education, she noted. tion, she notes.
