BIG EIGHT BASEBALL! Yesterday's baseball game between Kansas and Emporia State was rained out and will not be rescheduled.
The 11-13 Jayhawks open the Big Eight Conference season this weekend with a pair of doubleheaderers against Nebraska at Hogwild and Tomorrow's games begin at 3 p.m. and Sunday's games start at 1 p.m.
AUENESE HAS CANCER: Colorado start quarterback Sal Aunese has been diagnosed with stomach cancer, which has spread one of his lungs.
And You Thought Razor Blades Were Just For Shaving?
The diagnosis was made after a lung biopsy revealed that a cancer spread to a lung from another site in his body, the university said.
Aunese was admitted to the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center March 26 for treatment of a respiratory problem. Earlier, officials said he was suffering from sarcoidosis, a condition in which tissue in the lungs and airways thickens.
