Jeffrey Sherr, Lawrence senior plays Kurihara in the play. The play is set in 1911 and 1923 in a Japanese village. Two families try to cope with their frustrations and to work with their regular lives after the bomb. "It's not a political play," Sherr said. "He's a real person, and it deals with his real life situation." "In a way, as a graduating senior, I'm in the same situation as he is — dealing with what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. The difference is that he doesn't know about his leukemia and die in a few months. Laura Kirk, Lecompton senior, plays kuriharra's mother. She said the play was not really about the bombing of Hiroshima. story idea ? 864-4810 ADVERTISING WORKS !!! “It’s about little weird things about the family that happened after the bomb,” Kirk said. “Like Manaba tries to get married, and he can’t because he doesn't know about the radiation.” "I tell pretty ashamed that I didn't know more about it, being an American." Kirk said. Pamela Cook, Green junior, said that being in the play gave her a better understanding about the bombing. "I don't feel like I'm reliving it, but I am getting a taste of what the people went through," Cook said. "Politically, we need to understand and know about things like this that happened. We put so many things behind us and don't think about it anymore." $ save money $ CLIP COUPONS Every day specials! No coupons necessary! Every day specials!
