KTPK exec gets award for service
A prominent Kansas broadcaster Tuesday was awarded the Grover Cobb Award for Broadcasting Service for 1988-89.
H. Pat Powers, executive vice president and chief executive officer of Topeka BroadComm Inc. and general manager of KTPK-FM, Topeka, has had 32 years of broadcasting experience.
The "Grover Cobb award is given to people who show outstanding service to Kansas broadcasters over a period of years. Mix Uxts Ulrich, chairman of radio-TV.
Faculty in the radio-TV sequence of the School of Journalism receive nominations and vote on the award. Cobb is a member of the advisory board for the radio-TV sequence in the school.

A brick was thrown Tuesday through a window valued at $100 in a business in the 3200 block of Clinton Parkway, Lawrence police reported.
■ The front grim, logo and two deer warning whistles valued together at $116 were taken Tuesday from a 1985 Chevrolet truck in the 100 block of McDonald Drive, Lawrence police rejected.
A 1974 Chevrolet Nova valued at $300 was taken Tuesday in the 1600 block of Haskell Drive, Lawrence police reported.
*Rolais* , gum, candy and Certs valued together at $60 were taken Tuesday from a lodge in the 3700 Parkway, Lawrenceville police reported.
- Storm windows valued together at 80 were taken Tuesday from a yard in the 800 block of East 13th Street, Lawrence police report 130.
■ A wool' coat, KUID and birth certificate valued together at $110 were taken Tuesday from the period office, Watson Library, KU police reported.
