Alexander is the support group for seven months. "At the board, 50 percent of all women at some time in their lives experience violence," she said. "I'm sure there are a lot of women on this campus who have suffered violence of some kind and are experiencing ramifications and they just haven't labeled it." New campus women's support group founded by student for students only susan Alexander, Emparia junior, start a group for emotionally, sexually or physically abused women students Feb. 27 as a project for her independent study class, Service Learning in Women's Studies. A new campus women's support group will bring its founder not only satisfaction but a grade as well. Alexander said the class required her to work for a service organization and to do a project that would be permanent for that organization. She has been working at the Women's Charlene Muehlenbach, assistant professor of women's studies and instructor of the service learning curriculum at the trained academic work and field study. by Merceda Ares Kansan staff writer Alexander said she thought there was a great need for the group. "Laura has researched abuse and now she's putting that experience to work." Muehlenhard said. "The problem of battered women is a very serious one. It's something that should be addressed on campus."
