how we met
A PITY DATE IS THE BEST KIND OF DATE
Henry Platts, Boulder, Colo., junior, and Natalie Brown, Boulder, Colo., sophomore, never have to worry about dates for parties because they are, what Brown calls, each other's pity date.
The pair met in high school when Platts started dating one of Brown's friends, and the two have been best friends ever since.
Brown couldn't go to her junior prom because her boyfriend was in Sweden. When Platts found out she was upset, he called her up right away and asked her to the prom, because he and his girlfriend had just broken up."That was one of the best nights of high school," Brown says.

The entire reason Brown came to the University was because Platts convinced her to come after she visited him for a weekend. He also advised her to join a sorority because she didn't know anyone in Lawrence. Their ritual of being each other's date continues now that they are both in the Greek system and have lots of date parties to go to. However, they both say they would never date each other."He's my future husband. I would never date him, but I would marry him," Brown jokes.
Brown thinks girls date bad guys and marry the good ones.Both consider the other to be just a best friend.For now.
