Noticably absent from the end-of-the-year accolades (William Hurt's Oscar nomination notwithstanding) A History of Violence is, in a word, incredible. Viggo Mortensen, aka the King of Gondor, stars in this unexpectedly beautiful film about a man who, through an act of violence, discovers who he really is. Creepy Ed Harris and a solid Maria Bello also star.
