The team is in Rayburn, Texas for the Rayburn Classic today and tomorrow. Sports writer The women's team won the March 13-15 North-South Classic at Orlando, Fla., with a three-day total of 806 strokes. Kansas finished three strokes over Iowa State. Susan Pekar, Wausau, Wis. sophomore, finished with 195, good enough for a second-place tie. Her teammates, Tina Gewuch, Green Bay, Wis. sophomore, and Michelle Mulvihill, Des Moines, Iowa sophomore, finished seven strokes behind Pekar at 202. While the women's team is in Texas, the men's team is preparing for its March 24-26 Western Intercollegiate Tournament at Santa Cruz, Calif. This is the first year the Kansas team was invited to the tournament, Ross Randall, head men's golf coach, said yesterday. "This is the premier event on the West Coast," Randall said. "Every good team in the West and the Southwest will be there." Golf There will be 26 teams competing on the Pasztiempo Golf Course in the 54-hole competition. Kansas is the onestreet winner, invited to the invitational, Randall said. Tennis team at LSU invite He said it was hard to say how his team would hold up against the other teams. In the previous tournaments, the top four scores from five golfers would be scored. However, at this invitational, the best five scores from six golfers would be counted.
