The Employment Outlook Survey indicated that 37 percent of local employers who were polled planned to hire during the second quarter April, May and June. Manpower Inc., an international temporary help service, published the survey. Mark Rau, manager of Manpower Temporary Services, 203 W. Eighth St., said that students looking for a summer job in Lawrence should start looking now, even if they won't be able to start until the end of the semester. said Bill Martin, Chamber of Commerce director of economic development, said, "There's no question that there are more jobs now than there were a year ago."
