Hunt for vice chancellor nears end By a Kansan reporter The University of Kansas plans to appoint an executive vice chancellor by the end of this semester. "We've had a number of people nominated, but the process isn't finished yet," James Scaly, assis- sion to the chancellor, said yesterday. Sally said that the deadline for nominations was Feb. 20, but that many people who were nominated were not interested in changing positions. As a result, nominees have until Tuesday to decide whether they want to be considered for the job. The former executive vice chancellor, Robert P. Cobb, professor of English, left the position in December to return to teaching. "We hope the committee will give the chancellor the three names by early April." Scally said. him. The new executive vice chancellor would take office in July or August. Chancellor Gene A. Budig appointed a search committee to study applications for the position and select three for presentation to Del Shankel, the acting executive vice chancellor, is chairman of the search committee.
