SMOKE TRIGGERS ALARM: A smoking fluorescent light fixture set off fire alarms in Malot Hall about 6:30 last night. Beverly Sills founded the National Company in 1979 as the touring version of the New York City Opera. The company performed "Madame Butterfly" at KU last spring. Students were kept outside the building for about 20 minutes until firefighters determined that the faulty fixture set off the alarm. Two fire trucks responded to the alarm. No injuries were reported.
