The KU debate team made it to the Sweet Sixteen round in the Cross Examination Debate Association national championships and finished sixth overall. The event took place on March 18 to 22. The University was among 65 teams to qualify to the single-elimination tournament from a pool of more than 200. Sophomore pair Matt Cormack, Lincoln, Neb., and Lindy Simonsen, Omaha, Neb., advanced to the Sweet Sixteen after defeating the University of Missouri and then University of Texas in the following round.
