Lied Center gearing up for performances BY ALISON CUMBOW editor@kansan.com This semester, the Lied Center will have many new performances and events coming to town that students can look forward to. Tim Van Leer, executive director of the Lied Center said it would offer a variety of diverse events in the fall. "I'm particularly excited about Big Bad Voodoo Daddy," he said. "The popular swing band is a big hit wherever they perform." Van Leer said students should check out the Broadway events and a modern dance company called Armitage Gone! The shows at the Lied Center can be relatively inexpensive nights out for students. Students receive special reduced prices, ranging from $5 to $24, for all performances. "These prices are available to KU students throughout the year," Van Leer said. "But to get the best seats, they should purchase as early as possible."
