Recreational summer. The wall gallery, established in 1974, has proved popular. Space on it is often booked a year ahead of time. The parks and recreation department usually reserves the gallery a summer in advance, according to Bill Slaton, an instructor in the children's program. It's really a great place to exhibit their art, and the children said. The kids like seeing their work, and they love it. NOW SERVING MORE SANDWICHES The woman sponsoring the gallery is Bonita Garrett, Topeka, owner of three McDonald's restaurants in eastern Kansas. She said she established the gallery in an attempt to become more involved in the Lawrence community. The wall, carpeted in beige, red and blue and set off by spotlights, provides a background for diverse exhibits of drawings, paintings, sculptures and art exhibitions-H clubs, KU art and photography students, area artists and Lawrence companies. Garrett and her husband, James, receive no money for the display space. Exhibits may be sold to anyone. 'She does it simply as a good will gesture to the community,' Garett's secretary said. Roy Tayler, who manages Roy's Creative Framing in the Malls Shopping Center, had a display in McDonald's early this month. He also liked his positive effect sales in his shop. "I've received numerous comments from customers about the display," he said. "Ive received several responses." The Garretts own McDonald's restaurants in Manhattan and Junction City. A different empathy is used in each city. A restaurant in Manhattan uses a garden emphasis, and includes tropical plants, chandeliers, fountains and a nine-foot tree. Junction City's McDonald's uses Macy's theme illustrations to illustrate a historical theme. EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF & GOD AGAINST ALL (The Enigma of Kasper Hauser) (1975) Dir.
