declined comment on its subcontractor's tax problems. But on March 1, John Casson, president of the contracting company, said he was arguing legal action against the subcontractor.
CASSION CO. was asked last fall by state and KU investigators to replace 17 defective concrete panels supplied by its subcontractor for the law building.
Casson said, "We still have contractual responsibilities to the subcontractor. I'm not an attorney. I wouldn't want to say anything until the end of our contract."
But the subcontractor, he said, would continue to supply the panels until the building's completion. He refused to give further information on why he thought a court case with the subcontractor was possible.
"Well, we may have a court case. It's common knowledge that there there's been a continuing delay in delivery of the precaret panels from Omaha."
SCHOOL OF Law faculty and administra-
tion of the law department of the prestigious pau-
building might not be open for classes until January 1978. It officially is scheduled to close on April 30, 2016.
School of Law sources also have indicated that defective panels were being delivered to the site of the building, and that one panel had been dropped by construction workers. The panels form the outer skin of the building.
