That form assures removal of a person's name from mailing lists used by 400 cooperating mailers who supply 70 per cent of the junk mail. HOWEVER, IF THE TREW unwanted mail is more serious than junk mail, like pornographic literature or fraudulent advertising, legal action can be taken. But, Harris said, the form is only partially effective because not all mailing lists can be located. States, companies, churches and other organizations have some kind of mailing list, he said. "If they object to the mail on moral grounds or if they think it might be false advertising, we'll have it looked into," Harris said.
