Rucker claims a spot in race for treasurer TOPEKA — Eric Rucker, Shawnee County commissioner, yesterday announced plans to run for state treasurer. Rucker, a Republican, was executive director of the Kansas Republican Party from 1985 to 1987. He told an audience in the Capitol rotunda that a tightified monetary policy and sound fiscal management were now vital to the state. "I submit to you that good assistant professor of political science. "If the state treasurer's position were ever to become appointed, one of the most important checks and balances — as far as the books of the state of Kansas — would be erased," he said.
