Competing in the preliminary heat of the 50 freesleep, Andrew swam a time of 23.54, which was the 44th fastest time of the morning. To qualify for the finals, a swimmer must have one of the top-16 preliminary times for an event. Nilken swim in the preliminary heat of the 200 individual medley and had a time of 203.50 for 32th place. Both swimmers will return to the pool tomorrow as Andrew will compete in the 100 butterfly while Nilson will swim the 400 individual medley. Entering the championships, Andrew had the 7th best 100 butterfly in the country and has a serious shot of making the top-16 and earning her ninth All-American honors.
