The Big Eight Conference named Kansas guard Jacque Vaughn as its latest player of the week.
Vaughn averaged 16.5 points and 6.0 assists in Jayhawk wins against Nebraska and Kansas State. He scored 20 points when Kansas concluded the conference title Saturday in Manhattan.
Vaughn won the honor over Oklahoma forward Ryan Minor in a split vote by a media panel.
**Kansas guards Jacque Vaughn and Jerod Hease lead the Jayhawks in the backcourt. They continue to lead the team in the classroom.**
The two business administration majors were named to the District VII GTE Academic All-America Team on Monday, Vaughan, who has a 3.70 grade point average, and Hasse, 3.60, Montana State's Nico Harries, Missouri-Kansas State's Travis Salmon and Iowa's Jess Setsley.
The District VII players will appear on the national ballot, with the results of the voting being announced on March 12.
