Fla. — A remorseful Bundy spent his final hours in prayer and placed two calls to his mother in Tacoma. Wash., to say farewell. "He sounds wonderful," Louise Bundy said after the first telephone call. "He sounds very much at paucity." Bundy, 42, spent Monday night and early today praying with the Rev. Fred Lawrence, a Methodist minister, said prison spokesman Bob Macmaster. At the conclusion of the second, Bundy's mother told him, "You'll always be my precious son," according to today's Morning News Tribune of Tacoma. Surrealist Salvador Dali dies The Associated Press FIGUERAS, Spain — Surrealist master Salvador Dali, one of the century's most important painters, died on Saturday in where he lived for 84 years ago. The melting clocks and barren landscape of his "Persistence of Memory" made an indelible impression on contemporary culture. It is probably the most celebrated surrealist painting in the world. Dali, a founder of the surrealist movement, was the last of an outstanding generation of Spanish painters that included Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro. Dali created a public image to match his art. Calling himself "The Divine Dali," he wore a pointed, waxed mustache curling up like a bull's horns, and long hair. Also prominent were his walking sticks; he owned more than 30 of them.
